chapelle royale de Vincennes- Monument-animaux-RMN

The Château de Vincennes has been used by the military since the 19th century.
Squadrons of lapwings, whose colouring has been reorganised as military camouflage, occupy the nave of the royal chapel. The multitude is perfectly aligned with the floor paving, thus lending a sense of order to their disturbingly static occupation of space.
These objects were made and painted in China. They evoke the fragile equilibrium of the military worldwide as well as the invasion of 'made in China' products on the world market.

Effet de cerf

Abbaye de Jumièges (FR)

The stag-greenhouse* is a composite animal with six feet and antlers. The worldwide contemporary issue of the greenhouse effect is here very freely interpreted.* In French the words for stag (cerf) and  greenhouse (serre) are homonyms. The phrase "greenhouse effect" (l'effet de serre) can therefore be heard in French as l'effet de cerf (the stag effect).
